Copper Cable/Wire Stealing - Midland District

Midland Detectives are seeking information regarding the recent stealing of copper cables and wires from alongside Tonkin Highway, Reid Highway and the adjacent cycle paths in Midland and surrounding suburbs, incidents which have left hazards for members of the public.

Recent incidents, since June 2024, have left live electrical wires exposed on light poles, maintenance pits damaged or left open, and general darkness due to lighting being left unserviceable.

The investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity involving people accessing electrical cabling in the vicinity of the main roads and cycle paths is asked to call Police immediately on 131 444.
