Johnson, Gooch recognized as distinguished fellows

Two Vanderbilt University School of Nursing faculty members were recently honored for their contributions to nursing with fellow designations.

Professor Rolanda Johnson, PhD'98, MSN, RN, FAAN, was selected for the inaugural class of fellows for the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing. Established by the National Black Nurses Association, this new academy recognizes outstanding diverse nurse leaders. Johnson was named a Luminary ADLN Fellow as a highly distinguished individual who has opened doors for greater justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in nursing. She serves as the associate dean for equity, diversity and inclusion, assistant dean for academics, and professor of nursing at Vanderbilt, where she co-founded and co-leads the school's noted Academies for Diverse Nurse Leaders. In 2023, Vanderbilt recognized her its Joseph A. Johnson Distinguished Leadership Professor.

Assistant Professor Michael Gooch, DNP, MSN'05, PMC'08, was named a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing. He will be inducted into the academy at the annual Emergency Nursing Conference in Las Vegas in September. This marks his third fellow designation this year, having also been named a fellow of both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Academy of Air & Surface Transport Nurses. He is a nationally recognized speaker and published author regarding varied emergency and transport nursing topics. A board-certified acute care, family and emergency nurse practitioner, Gooch primarily teaches in the Emergency Nurse Practitioner program at the School of Nursing.
