The Green Fayre set for return to Beacon Country Park

An annual two-day celebration of the countryside and life in rural areas returns to West Lancashire this summer.

The Green Fayre returns to Beacon Country Park in Up Holland on July 20 and 21, 2024 (11am to 5pm).

The free, family-friendly event at the 300-acre park will include a programme of live shows and displays andvisitors can browse stalls and exhibits highlighting West Lancashire's rural heritage and landscapes, traditional crafts and countryside living.

They include:

  • Working woodlands, where visitors can witness local skilled craftsmen and artisan experts demonstrate traditional and unusual techniques, such as leather-working, weaving, bodging and chain-saw carving
  • A range of wildlife and animal welfare charities offering tips and advice
  • Alongside dog agility, there will be birds of prey demonstrations and a Viking battle re-enactment at outdoor arena

Additional family-focused activities include donkey rides, bouncy castles, trampolines, arts and craft workshops, while visitors can also tap into their adventurous side and have a go at abseiling, climbing and archery.

A variety of food vendors serving everything from burgers and hotdogs to pies, cakes, pastries and sweet treats will be available on both days.

Councillor Carl Coughlan, West Lancashire Lead Member for Leisure, said: "The Green Fayre is one of the highlights of West Lancashire's brilliant and diverse events calendar.

"It is a great way to support the Council's green agenda, as we look to how we can all collectively live greener lives in the future.

"There's going to be something for all ages to enjoy, which makes it a truly family-friendly event, with an eco-twist.

"Beacon Country Park is the perfect location for this event, with the thriving Coppice Cafe and bar complimenting the food and drink offer from our guest vendors."
