On July 1, 2024, Southern Peru Copper Corporation ("SPCC" or the "the Branch"), the Peruvian branch of Southern Copper Corporation ("SCC"), announced that it will restart construction of the Tia Maria project, located in the province of Islay, in the region of Arequipa, Peru. SPCC's decision to restart construction follows discussions with the Peruvian government regarding the best course of action for the project, in view of the social and political conditions in the province of Islay, in the region, and at the national level.
