City Seeking Public Input on Central Ave. and White St., Survey Open Until Aug. 16

The City of Dubuque is seeking input to determine community priorities for Central Ave. and White St. The public is invited to take a short online survey to explore and consider three street design concepts: wider sidewalks, maximized parking, and bike amenities.

The City hired consultant Bolten & Menk, Inc. to conduct a corridor study on Central Ave. and White St. from 4th St. to 22nd St. From April through June, the project team held focus groups, attended several community events, and spent time door-knocking along the corridor to talk to residents and businesses about current conditions and opportunities for improvement. The public was also invited to provide comments and reactions on an interactive comment map.

The public input gathered through these efforts and the online survey will be used to refine the preferred design alternatives for the corridor. The survey outlines the pros and cons of each option and asks which design concept is preferred for Central Ave. and which design concept is preferred for White St. The survey also explores benefits and preferences for one-way and two-way traffic.

The survey is available online at www.cityofdubuque.org/centralwhite and will be open through Friday, Aug. 16. For questions, contact the City of Dubuque Engineering Department at 563-589-4270.
