Bureau of Land Management Issues Record of Decision for Greenlink West

Sep 9, 2024 5:21 PM

NV Energy, along with Acting Deputy Secretary of the Interior Laura Daniel-Davis and Assistant to the President and National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi, today announced significant progress in advancing the Greenlink West transmission project.

The announcement held at NV Energy Headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada marks the Bureau of Land Management record of decision for Greenlink West. The Greenlink West transmission project will be constructed between Las Vegas and Reno, increasing transmission capacity and improving grid reliability to deliver clean energy for Nevadans.

"This is a significant milestone for the Greenlink West transmission project, which will provide better service and reliability for our customers," said Doug Cannon, NV Energy's president and CEO. "Greenlink West strengthens our transmission system and creates greater access to Nevada's resource-rich renewable energy zones, which will help the State achieve its de-carbonization goals and move Nevada closer to a future powered by 100% renewable energy and reducing its carbon footprint."

NV Energy anticipates construction on Greenlink West to begin in December 2024. Greenlink West is expected to be in service by the end of May 2027.

In addition to the record of decision for Greenlink West, the Bureau of Land Management has opened a comment period for the proposed Greenlink North Transmission Project Draft Resource Management Plan Amendment and Environmental Impact Statement.
