Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6600 South Loop East

September 3, 2024- Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6600 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) about 12:50 a.m. on Sunday (September 1).

The identity of the deceased male, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer J. Trevino reported:

The driver of a white Chrysler 300 was traveling eastbound near the above address on the main lanes of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway and into a grassy median. The Chrysler then rolled over, struck a metal guardrail and came to a stop overturned near a sidewalk.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased. The female passenger was transported by paramedics to an area hospital in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing.
