Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre unveils 'Geometric Wonderzoo' Featuring 2.5 metre tall Elephant Slide and 10 Must Play Zones

The highly-anticipated "Geometric Wonderzoo" is set to open on 14 Aug at the outdoor area on the rooftop (3/F) of Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre. This vibrant new space spans approximately 12,000 square feet and boasts a range of exciting attractions, including a giant elephant slide, a turtle trampoline, a crocodile hopscotch, and more. With multiple play areas, it promises to delight and entertain children of all ages. Additionally, the park features an educational zone where kids can learn fascinating facts about animals through interactive games, promoting a love for discovery and learning.

The third floor of the shopping mall has recently undergone renovation, marking Link's 100th asset enhancement project in Hong Kong, adding several popular restaurants and specialty food stores, enhancing the dining experience for young families. Some restaurants feature floor-to-ceiling windows with scenic views, not only provides direct access to the Geometric Wonderzoo but also connects to the Rainbow Tunnel. When sunlight shines through the colourful glass, it creates a beautiful rainbow effect on the ground, making it a perfect spot for photos. Parents can enjoy a leisurely meal while their children play, ensuring a delightful and memorable visit for the whole family.

Step into "Geometric Wonderzoo", where the spirit of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark comes to life

To immerse children in a vibrant and joyful atmosphere, "Geometric Wonderzoo" is designed with a colour scheme of orange, deep sea blue, and stone gray. The park's flooring is adorned with neatly arranged hexagonal patterns, inspired by the unique hexagonal rock columns of the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. This design brings a touch of nature to the bustling urban environment, offering children a chance to learn about different natural formations and embark on an adventure of exploration.

The colour palette also incorporates elements reminiscent of Hong Kong's iconic neon signs. Orange symbolizes the enthusiasm and energy of Sau Mau Ping, deep sea blue represents mystery and hope, and stone gray signifies the spirit of adventure and self-challenge. This vibrant and eye-catching design not only creates a lively visual effect but also stimulates children's imagination and creativity, contributing to their cognitive development.

Geometric animal-themed park offers diverse experiences for exploration, education, and fun

"Geometric Wonderzoo" features a unique design inspired by geometric animals. Simple geometric shapes, combined with colour matching techniques, create various animal-themed play equipment. From the eye-catching giant elephant slide to the charming geometric bird installations, children can immerse themselves in the fun of exploring the world of geometric animals, enhancing their understanding of shapes and animals, with highlighted play facilities including:

  • Giant Elephant Adventure Slide: A multifunctional play structure that combines climbing and sliding, helping children develop spatial awareness. The 2.5-metre-tall slide challenges their courage.
  • Turtle Bouncing Valley: Designed for young children, this trampoline enhances motor skills and improves balance.
  • Bird Net Climbing Zone: This ride helps children strengthen their muscles and courage.
  • Interactive Learning Wall: Inspire children to explore, learn geometry knowledge from games, and combine learning with play.
  • Dynamic Balance Zone: This ride helps develop children's sense of balance.

Collaboration with Youth College (International) students to create geometric animal sculptures

Link has partnered with students from VTC Youth College (International) to design a series of adorable geometric animal sculptures, now on display at Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre. Using paper as the medium and "geometry" as the theme, the students created eleven pieces of geometric animals. These designs were transformed into paper sculptures through 3D scanning technology, providing a fresh and captivating visual experience.

This collaboration engaged 12 students enrolled in the Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (Design), spanning approximately three months of creative design and production work. This initiative provided these young talents with an invaluable opportunity to develop and display their skills, while also allowing the community to appreciate the innovative contributions of the next generation of artists.
