Following Push from Cortez Masto, USPS Agrees to Stop Relocation Of Local Reno Mail Processing Operations

Las Vegas, Nev. - U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after successfully pushing the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to abandon his ill-advised plan to relocate outgoing mail processing operations from Reno, Nevada to Sacramento, California. Cortez Masto, along with Senator Jacky Rosen and Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.-02), repeatedlyurged the Postmaster General and the USPS Board of Governors to stop this disruptive change to Reno's processing facility.

"When I heard about Postmaster General DeJoy's mistaken attempt to move mail operations from Reno to California, Senator Rosen and I immediately got to work to stop it. Today's announcement is a win for our postal workers and all of our families in Northern Nevada," said Senator Cortez Masto.

Senator Cortez Masto has been working across the aisle to stop this proposal. In addition to her work with Senator Rosen and Representative Amodei, she repeatedly calledon Postmaster General DeJoy provide detailed information about the impact of his misguided plan, and she has joined a group of over 20 Senators in a letter urging Postmaster General DeJoy to stop any changes or relocations to USPS processing facilities that could hurt mail deliver and kill jobs nationwide.
