The United States Army Corps of Engineers has announced an additional Operation Blue Roof in-person application event for Volusia County residents affected by Hurricane Milton. This new event will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the parking lot of the John H. Dickerson Community Center, 308 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Daytona Beach.
This is in addition to the previously scheduled event on Friday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Lowe's parking lot at 901 Saxon Blvd., Orange City.
Operation Blue Roof offers essential fiber-reinforced sheeting at no cost to qualifying residents, ensuring homes are safeguarded, and families remain secure during the wait for permanent repairs. These offerings are crucial for maintaining property integrity, reducing the need for temporary housing, and expediting recovery efforts within the community. Residents impacted by Hurricane Milton may also apply for assistance through Operation Blue Roof by visiting www.blueroof.govor by calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258) through Thursday, Nov. 14.
Additionally, FEMA staff will be present at both events to help residents submit federal aid applications, which may include support for temporary housing, property repairs, and other vital disaster-related costs. For those who cannot make it in person, assistance is accessible online at www.disasterassistance.gov, via the FEMA mobile app, or by phone at 800-621-3362.
