Nonprofit leaders convene in Pittsburgh for NeighborWorks Training Institute charting the future of a national community development movement started 45 years ago

Pittsburgh, PA - More than 1,400 affordable housing and community development nonprofit leaders come to Pittsburgh Aug. 26-30 for the NeighborWorks Training Institute (NTI) to commemorate a national model launched here 45 years ago that has helped millions of families build and sustain homeownership, access quality rental housing, strengthen local connections and fuel sustainable positive change one block at a time.

NTI attendees will examine a future filled with new challenges and opportunities, including how to navigate higher mortgage rates, home prices and rents while learning how to harness new technologies, including the power of artificial intelligence (AI), on behalf of residents, to foster more affordable, equitable and inclusive communities.

NeighborWorks America's symposium on Aug. 28 "45 & Forward: Readying Our Field for the Future " is an information packed event where participants will gain the tools and inspiration to navigate the rapidly changing future. Together with peers and colleagues, attendees will absorb bold insights and dialogue with cross-sector experts to understand how to best adapt to stay relevant and responsive to community needs.

The NeighborWorks Training Institute in Pittsburgh is supported by a variety of partners, including Capital One, Wells Fargo, PNC, Clayton Homes, JPMorgan Chase & Co., U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Truist Foundation, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Key Bank, Citizens and First National Bank.

In addition to the training institute, NeighborWorks network organizations work every day to serve Pennsylvania:

  • Housing Development Corporation MidAtlantic (Lancaster).
  • Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks (Reading).
  • Neighborhood Housing Services of the Lehigh Valley (Allentown).
  • NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania (Scranton).
  • NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh).
  • New Kensington Community Development Corporation (Philadelphia).
In fiscal year 2023, NeighborWorks network organizations in Pennsylvania generated more than $166.4 million in total direct investment and provided 11,871 housing and counseling services to Pennsylvania's families.
