Commissioner Causey announces victim assistance center in Yancey County to aid those impacted by Hurricane Helene

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced that a Victim Assistance Center (VAC) will be open in Yancey County to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The VAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Yancey County Annex Facility (Old Ridge Hardware), located at 671 West 19 East Bypass, Burnsville, N.C., 28714.

Representatives from NCDOI will be on hand to assist those with claims and questions.

This VAC is in addition to centers previously announced in Western North Carolina, which will also be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • Thursday, Nov. 14, Mountains Branch Library, 150 Bills Creek Road, Lake Lure, N.C. 28746.

"The Department of Insurance will continue to host events to help with insurance claims and other needs," Commissioner Causey said. "We are committed to making sure the victims of Hurricane Helene get the assistance they need."
