Corinna, ME - Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Town of Corinna's new fire station. Senator Collins secured $1,725,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending for this project through the Fiscal Year 2022 Agriculture and Rural Development Appropriations bill to support the construction of the new fire station, which will serve the towns of Corinna and Exeter. She toured the former station in 2021, which was in need of repair and lacked the space to effectively support the Corinna Fire Department.

"Corinna's new fire station will help ensure their brave firefighters are equipped to effectively serve multiple rural communities in Penobscot County," said Senator Collins. "I was delighted to secure federal funding through the Appropriations process to help build this new facility that will help keep more Mainers safe."

Senator Collins has been a longstanding advocate for Maine firefighters and first responders. This year alone, she secured nearly $31 million through the Fiscal Year 2024 Appropriations process for 24 projects across the state that will support local law enforcement, fire and rescue stations, and emergency response services.
