Sample Ballots

A composite sample ballot, which shows every office available to vote on in Athens-Clarke County, is available in English and Spanish at www.accgov.com/elections. Some offices may only represent specific districts and not appear on every voter's ballot. For a district specific sample ballot, voters can visit www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

Absentee Voting

In order to vote by absentee ballot, a request for an absentee ballot must be sent in by October 25, 2024. Registered voters can request an absentee ballot by submitting an application online, by email, by mail, by fax, or in person. Absentee ballots must be received by the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department by the time polls close on Election Day (November 5, 2024). Absentee ballots can be mailed, placed in a drop box at the Lyndon House Arts Center during advance voting, or delivered in-person to the Elections Department. Voters can also check online as to the status of their absentee ballot. Visit www.accgov.com/absenteevoting for more details.

Advance Voting

Advance voting began on October 15, 2024 and runs through Friday, November 1, 2024 at six locations (Lyndon House Arts Center, Miriam Moore Community Center, Athens-Clarke County Library, Athens-Clarke County Extension Office, Athens-Clarke County Tennis Center, University of Georgia Tate Center). Times and days vary. [Note: Some early billboards incorrectly stated Nov. 3 and are being updated as of Oct. 23].

Advance voting will not take place at the Elections Department. Some locations also include Saturday and Sunday voting opportunities. Registered Athens-Clarke County voters can vote at any of the advance voting locations regardless of their polling location for Election Day voting. Voters in elections are required to show one of the following seven forms of photo ID when voting:

Election Day Voting on November 5, 2024

All precincts are open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Voters who are in line by 7:00 PM on Election Day are able to vote.

If you are unsure of your precinct, look at your voter registration card or use the My Voter Page (www.mvp.sos.ga.gov) on the Georgia Secretary of State's website to determine your polling location (note: official records come from the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department, so use this only as a guide and read the disclaimer), or contact the Elections Department at 706-613-3150.

Precinct 7A Polling Location Change

The new Election Day voting location for Precinct 7A is Timothy Baptist Church, located at 380 Timothy Road, Athens, GA 30606. The previous polling location, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens at 780 Timothy Road, had requested changing the polling location from its facility to a new site. Athens-Clarke County voting districts and precincts did not change as part of the process, only the polling place at which voters in Precinct 7A would vote in-person on Election Day. All voters affected by this change were issued a new voter registration card in the mail.

Spanish Language Ballots

Sample ballots, advance voting ballots and instructions, and Election Day ballots and instructions are also available in Spanish.

Accessible Voting Options

Advance voting polls and Election Day polls offer audio ballots for voters who are blind or have low vision, and booths for voters in wheelchairs. If you need help with your ballot, you can ask a family member or friend to come with you to the polls and fill the ballot in with your choices by signing an assisted voter oath as prescribed by state law.
