More than 100 NYU alumni from seven schools received nominations for the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards when they were announced July 17.
The comedy, The Bear, starring (and co-executive produced by) Tisch School of the Arts (TSOA) and Steinhardt School grad Ayo Edebiri, made history with a record 23 nominations, surpassing 30 Rock, which received 22 in 2009. Shōgun led the drama category with 25 nominations, including Carrie Audino (TSOA '97) for "Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series" as well as Stephanie Gibbons (TSOA '89) and Andie Newell (Gallatin '19)-both for "Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series."
In the major acting categories, Donald Glover (TSOA '06) was nominated a lead actor in a drama series for his work on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while Billy Crudup (TSOA '94) received a nod for his supporting role on The Morning Show. Karen Pittman (TSOA '07) and Marcia Gay Harden (TSOA '88) were nominated for their work on that drama series.
NYU alumni were nominated in acting, design, writing and technical categories across all genres. The winners of the 76th annual awards will be announced Sept. 15.
