Route 51 Traffic Stoppages This Week in Westmoreland County

​Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that intermittent traffic stoppages on Route 51 are scheduled to occur Thursday, July 18, between Concord Lane and Route 981 in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, depending on weather and operations.

The intermittent traffic stoppages are anticipated to occur between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers with the assistance of the Rostraver Police Department.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction will be working to reopen the ramp from southbound Route 51 to eastbound Interstate 70 and deactivate the temporary left turn lane onto the eastbound Interstate 70 on-ramp. Additionally, minor reconfiguration of the Route 51 ramps to and from I-70 will be performed.

This work is part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 Project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the plans include one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51, and several intersecting roadways, including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. The project is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.
