Parks & Recreation's Jeremy Long Receives City Strive Award

(L-R: City Manager Brad Kaye, Assistant Director of Public Services Marcie Post, Jeremy Long, & Project Manager Ken Arthur)

October 4, 2024 - The City of Midland is excited to announce that it has recognized Parks and Recreation Customer Account Representative Jeremy Long as its latest recipient of a City Strive Award. The award was presented during a department meeting last month.

Long received the Teamwork Award, which recognizes an individual for fostering and participating in the collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal, solve a problem, or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way.

Jeremy was nominated by Project Manager Ken Arthur for his dedication to become a subject matter expert on the City's new internal project management tool, Asana, and his help in assisting others with learning and implementing the tool in their departments.

"When the City announced it was implementing Asana for project management and workflow, Jeremy quickly got to work self-teaching himself on the software, utilizing the many online trainings. He envisioned solutions for (Dial-A-Ride) and created form-based processes to better serve his passengers. I learned of Jeremy's early adoption and mastery of Asana and recruited him to be a leader in the Asana Users Group and Asana Problem Solvers Group. Jeremy has already helped numerous departments get started on Asana and provide expertise in designing creative solutions using Asana. He has personally helped me in creating some City-wide Asana processes that will be rolled out soon to make the whole organization be more efficient. Jeremy is who I consider the "go-to" in the City for Asana knowledge and troubleshooting. Finally, his patience and thoughtful listening make the experience working with him a pleasure."

Jeremy Long has worked for the City since 2017.

"Since adding Asana to our organization's toolbox, Jeremy has taken the time to become one of our in-house subject matter experts on the software," said City Manager Brad Kaye. "Whether it's creating a new process that makes our operations run more smoothly, learning the program's newest features, or troubleshooting another user's issues, Jeremy jumps in to help with patience and professionalism."
