NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (November 24, 2024) - The iconic water tower standing tall over New Brunswick's Van Dyke Avenue for decades is set for a major overhaul. The project, expected to last about a year and a half, will dismantle the tower and construct a more efficient one.
The new water tower will be twice the size of the existing one, with a capacity of 1.5 million gallons. While it will maintain the same height, it will have a significantly wider base. Unlike the current gravity-fed system, the new tower will incorporate modern internal pumps, enhancing its efficiency and service to customers.
The City plans to use capital improvement funds and federal grants to finance the project. The demolition of the old tower is scheduled to begin in April, marking the start of this significant infrastructure upgrade.
