LMText Navigator: Cutting-Edge Secure GenAI Technology

"A fully internal GenAI platform developed by Lockheed Martin accelerates our ability to propel AI-enabled solutions from prototype to production rapidly and at scale, while maintaining data security on premises," said Mike Baylor, Lockheed Martin chief digital and AI officer. "This is just one of the many ways we are utilizing AI now to drive innovation for our customers and improve our business operations."

LMText Navigator is powered by NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD AI infrastructure and will be used by Lockheed Martin employees to securely increase quality and efficiency in service of our customers' missions.

Specific use cases for LMText Navigator include:

  • Accelerating post-mission analytics,

  • Generating and testing software code

  • Extracting answers from extensive production line documentation.

The tool was developed by Lockheed Martin's state-of-the-art AI Factory in partnership with the company's 1LMX transformation team.

"The AI Factory is dedicated to developing and producing secure AI solutions at scale," said Baylor. "Those solutions create powerful, compounding efficiency gains for our workforce and our customers."

Unleashing Innovation: Exploring Lockheed Martin's High-Assurance AI Center

LMText Navigator is part of a larger AI ecosystem within the Lockheed Martin AI Factory, a key component of the Lockheed Martin AI Center (LAIC). The LAIC is a centralized team of experts that provides our diverse engineering teams with essential AI tools, research, operational testing, and training to succeed in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Beyond LMText Navigator, AI Factory is also transforming Lockheed Martin's business by:

  • Providing a premier AI hosting platform for centralized, classified and edge deployments,

  • Scaling the automation of AI model development, and

  • Ensuring trustworthy AI solutions for high-assurance applications through configuration management, model and dataset provenance, and repeatable ML pipelines, in alignment with the DoD's AI ethics principles.

Recognizing how dynamic the AI space is for our entire enterprise, Lockheed Martin uses a "hub and spoke" talent development model to unite diverse engineers from across disciplines with the latest AI tools, enabling the company to create more robust and impactful AI solutions for our customers.
