Shanghai, China, November 6, 2024 - The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) has officially opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world's largest express transportation companies, is featured in the "Service Trade" section. Under the themes of "Grow with FedEx," "Focus on Service," and "Sustainability," the company is showcasing how its diverse innovations and sustainable initiatives provide differentiated value for customers and have fostered seamless connectivity between China and global markets during its 40-year presence in the region.
This year, FedEx has adopted an open booth design that integrates multimedia materials, physical exhibits, and simulated models to create an immersive experience. The booth features a distinctive "runway" ceiling design that guides visitors through FedEx milestones over the past 40 years in China, emphasizing its long-term commitment to this market. Visitors can engage with physical displays and live demonstrations, experiencing FedEx latest advancements in technology and sustainability firsthand. Additionally, the interactive game "Carbon Explorer Action" allows visitors to explore low-emission activities, encouraging collaboration in protecting our planet. FedEx will also host three forums during the exhibition to promote business development and growth in China and strengthen relationships with government authorities, customers, and partners.
"CIIE is an important platform for promoting international trade. We are honored to showcase our significant journey of growth alongside the Chinese market over the past 40 years, highlighting our outstanding achievements in network capacity, service offerings, digital innovation, and sustainability, " said Poh-Yian Koh, Senior Vice President of FedEx and President of FedEx China. "From parcels to freight, we provide a one-stop-shop for reliable global delivery and smart digital solutions that help our Chinese customers streamline their supply chains and grow their businesses, while contributing to high-quality development in China and global economic growth."
At this year's CIIE booth, FedEx highlights its latest initiatives in the Chinese market, including:
· Grow with FedEx: The company is optimizing its air transportation network by launching new international cargo flights from Qingdao and Xiamen to the U.S. and establishing international gateway facilities in these cities, enhancing connectivity between China and global markets. In October this year, FedEx successfully completed its first roundtrip giant panda move, delivering a total of six pandas between the U.S. and China on two separate flights, fostering cultural exchange between the two countries.
· Focus on Service: FedEx is enhancing its logistics services in China with newly launched online import customs declaration tool and the expansion of FedEx® International Connect Plus (FICP) service to the U.S. and Europe, offering customers more flexible and valuable logistics solutions. The company has also deployed new technologies like automated guided forklifts to efficiently meet freight shipment demands.
· Sustainability: FedEx brings its "Practical Sustainability" philosophy to life through action in our operations in China, including vehicle electrification, the implementation of green roofs and solar installation projects, and the recycling of old uniforms from its Chinese employees. Additionally, FedEx has launched the FedEx® Sustainability Insights tool, providing customers with carbon emission data on their international shipments within the FedEx network*.
