State Police Investigate motorcycle crash in Marcy

On July 2, 2024, at 7:11 a.m. State Police responded to Old River Road and Joe Kelly Memorial Road in the town of Marcy for a personal injury car vs. motorcycle accident.

A preliminary investigation has revealed a 2023 Kia operated by Julius J. Daniels, age 35 from Rome, NY, was traveling east on Old River Road in the town of Marcy when he attempted to make a left turn onto Joe Kelly Memorial Road and failed to observe a 2003 Yamaha Chappy motorcycle that was traveling westbound on Old River Road. The motorcycle operator Michael J. Sweezey, age 38, from Whitesboro, NY, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Upstate Hospital with non-life-threatening severe injuries.

Daniels was not injured in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
