8/30/24 Cruel Treatment of Animals

(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, August 29, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of W. Meidroth on a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they located 27 dogs inside a residence that were extremely malnourished and kept in unlivable conditions.


Officers then made contact with two adults identified as 60-year-old Eileen Wood and 54-year-old Kevin W. Schuch inside the residence.

Animal Control arrived on the scene and transported the dogs to the Peoria County Animal Protection Services for treatment.

Schuch and Wood were subsequently arrested for 27 counts of Cruel Treatment of Animals and 27 charges of Violation of Owner Duties Under Humane Care for Animals Acts.

Both subjects were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
