Fall is fast approaching and the temperatures will be cooling, and bison will be growing their winter fur before long to prepare for the colder weather. Wildflowers are blooming and getting ready to set seed, so visitors will see a lot of activity on the prairie this time of year. Visitors should be prepared for at least a 2-mile saunter over uneven terrain. Since the location of the bison is unknown until the morning of the saunter, guests should bring water, snacks, a hat, insect repellent, sunscreen and sturdy footwear. The weather can be unpredictable so please prepare for it. Binoculars can be useful in watching the bison and other wildlife. Registration is required and is limited to 25 participants. Please call 417-843-6711 to register. Participants will meet at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.
