The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists of detours for traffic accessing Route 3049 (Cardiff Road) and Route 4003 (Bethel Road) from Route 422 in Blacklick Township, Cambria County, beginning Monday, July 22.

The project will include the widening of the existing lanes on Route 422, the widening of the intersection of Route 422 and Cardiff Road, the addition of left-turn lanes onto Cardiff Road and Bethel Road from Route 422, flashing signal upgrades and various drainage improvements.

A 10-mile detour for Route 3049 (Cardiff Road) will take traffic from Route 422 to Route 271 (Station Road) into the towns of Twin Rocks and Nanty Glo to the intersection with Cardiff Road.

A one-mile detour for Bethel Road will take traffic on Route 422 to Reed Hall Road, which connects with Route 4003 (Bethel Road). The detours are expected to be in place for approximately 14 days while the work is completed.

Route 422 will remain open to both westbound and eastbound traffic. As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from flaggers.
