The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Jae-shin), in cooperation with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Olle Foundation, will organize the unveiling ceremony celebrating the naming of the "Jeju Olle Trail 8 Route: ASEAN-Korea Olle" in honor of the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Korea dialogue relations and its elevation to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on Friday, 8 November at Seogwipo in Jeju. Attended by key figures including the Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, Kim Jae-shin; Governor of Jeju, Oh Young-hun; the founding CEO and Chairperson of Jeju Olle Foundation, Suh Myung Sook;
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chung Byung-won; along with the Ambassadors of the 10 ASEAN countries in Korea, the ceremony will showcase a celebratory local performance and unveil the commemorative signage and bench.

The ASEAN-Korea Centre will install a commemorative signage and bench introducing ASEAN and Korea, marking the occasion of this unveiling ceremony. This initiative aims to promote Korea's beautiful natural landscapes, such as the Jeju Olle, to visitors from ASEAN, while also fostering understanding of ASEAN among Korean people. The Centre further plans to expand this ASEAN-Korea friendship trail to the 10 ASEAN member states to foster deeper connection between ASEAN and Korea.

Following the unveiling ceremony, an opening ceremony for the "ASEAN Culture & Tourism Book Corner" will be held at the Jeju International Peace Centre, where the AKC's Jeju ASEAN Hall is also located. The book corner features a collection of literature books showcasing the cultural and tourism resources of Southeast Asia, donated by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and the 10 ASEAN Embassies in Korea. Furthermore, it also displays a collection of the personally favorite books selected by the ASEAN Ambassadors. Additionally, a signing ceremony will be held, where ASEAN ambassadors will leave personal signatures in their selected books.

The Secretary General Kim Jae-shin stated that "the ASEAN-Korea Centre has been pursuing various projects to invigorate culture and tourism between Korea and ASEAN, introducing the rich culture and tourism offerings of both regions. This meaningful project endeavors to promote Korea's natural tourism assets such as the Jeju Olle to ASEAN, and vice versa. The permanent commemorative milestone is a testament to the enduring relations between Korea and ASEAN, and the ongoing journey both regions will continue to pursue."

The Centre has opened the "Jeju ASEAN Hall" at the Jeju International Peace Centre since 2022 to introduce the culture and tourism resources of ASEAN and has made continuous efforts to increase mutual appreciation and people-to-people connectivity between ASEAN and Korea.
