MET Transit awarded competitive grant funding

The City of Billings MET Transit will receive funding to purchase eight new ADA-paratransit vehicles to replace end-of-life vehicles in the MET Plus fleet, equipment to support fleet maintenance, and funds to provide training for maintenance staff. These improvements will enhance the fleets' reliability, decrease downtime, reduce service interruptions and enhance safety.

The Federal Transit Administration has awarded MET Transit $910,300 for the above enhancements detailed in the grant application. A local match of $165,075 will bring the total project to $1,075,375.

MET Transit submitted this application just a few months ago and the timing couldn't be better. Our community's demand for paratransit services has been on the rise and this grant will allow MET Transit to better meet that growing demand.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law aims to put more American-made buses on the streets and modernize transit buses across America's roadways. The City of Billings MET Transit was honored to be 1 of the 117 projects selected from across the nation.
