São Paulo (SP) -On 3 September, the Delegation of the European Union to Brazil co-organised with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Brazil and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture the event "Lei Rouanet: Opportunities for European companies in Brazil", which attracted around 70 participants, including European business representatives, cultural experts and key stakeholders.

The aim of the event was to inform European companies about the Lei Rouanet, a key instrument for cultural development in Brazil that offers tax incentives to support cultural projects. The purpose was to stimulate new collaborations between European companies and the Brazilian cultural sector.

The event was opened by Alejandro Goméz, Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Brazil, who emphasised the mutual benefits of cultural exchanges between Europe and Brazil. Stephanie Horel, Programme Officer at the EU Delegation to Brazil, highlighted the EU's commitment to cultural promotion and the opportunities offered by the Lei Rouanet.

Henilton Menezes, Secretary for the Creative Economy and Cultural Promotion at the Ministry of Culture, gave a detailed overview of the mechanisms and benefits of the Lei Rouanet. "European companies should not see the Lei Rouanet as a challenge, but as an incredible opportunity to invest in Brazil's vibrant cultural landscape. The Ministry is here if they need any clarification," stressed Menezes.

The event also featured successful case studies from leading European and Brazilian companies such as Santander, Vivo and Vale.

Santander's Executive Superintendent of Experiences & Culture, Bibiana Berg, spoke about impactful cultural projects supported by the bank, while Marina Daineze Keresztes, Vivo's Director of Image and Communication, presented Vivo's social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

Marize Mattos e Nass, Director of Sponsorships and Projects at Instituto Cultural Vale, highlighted the importance of promoting culture and community well-being.

Stephanie Horel said she was "confident that the event will inspire European companies to embrace the Lei Rouanet, unlocking a wealth of cultural opportunities and forging stronger ties between Europe and Brazil through the power of the arts".
