Check out the four grant opportunities the City has for local businesses and entrepreneurs

The City of Sacramento Office of Innovation and Economic Development currently has four new grant programs aimed at enhancing North Sacramento businesses and bolstering the entrepreneurial community.

These initiatives seek to support businesses, non-profits, and commercial properties in the area, as well as incubator and accelerator programs across the city that provide essential resources to spur innovation and inclusive economic growth.

"The City of Sacramento is committed to fostering a vibrant and thriving business community," said the City's Senior Project Manager Mikel Davila. "These grant opportunities are designed to provide critical support to our entrepreneurs and small businesses, ensuring they have the resources and infrastructure needed to succeed. By investing in these programs, we are not only stimulating economic growth but also enhancing the quality of life for all Sacramento residents."

Forward Together Grant - $700,000 total

  • Focus: Support community-led initiatives around Marysville and Del Paso boulevards. This includes enhancing housing, employment, retail, and community experiences. The grant is divided into Collaborative Impact Grants, encouraging partnerships for broad goals, and Action Grants for quick, tangible results. This program aims to support community-led initiatives that align with the Forward Together action plan, enhancing housing, employment, retail, arts and culture, and overall community experiences.
  • Funding: Non-profits, businesses, and individuals located in and around Marysville and Del Paso boulevards can apply for Collaborative Impact Grants up to $500,000; Action Grants up to $25,000.
  • Applications for the Action Grant due: Aug. 5, by 11:59 p.m. PDT
  • Applications for the Collaborative Impact Grant have been extended and are now due on Sept. 9 by 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Innovation Incubator and Accelerator Grants - $500,000 total

  • Focus: Support early-stage businesses in Sacramento through mentorship, educational programs, product development support, legal and administrative assistance, marketing and branding, strategic partnerships, access to funding, and office space.
  • Funding: Incubator and accelerator programs with proven experience can apply for up to $100,000.
  • Applications open until: Sept. 9.

Northgate Boulevard Storefront Improvement Grant - $200,000 total

  • Focus: Led by the District 3 City Council Office, this grant program will enhance the exterior appearance of businesses on Northgate Boulevard by funding improvements such as new paint, signage, lighting, windows, doors, or awnings. This aims to attract more visitors and foster economic development.
  • Funding: Up to $15,000 per grant.
  • Applications due: Aug. 16, by 4 p.m. PDT

North Sacramento Façade Improvement Grant - $500,000 total

  • Focus: Led by City Council District 2, the grant provides up to $30,000 in matching funds for exterior building improvements in North Sacramento's key commercial corridors. Eligible activities include exterior painting, installation of new façade elements, construction of outdoor dining or gathering spaces, and restoration of original architectural features.
  • Funding: Up to $30,000 per grant.
  • Applications due: Aug. 5, by 11:59 p.m. PDT
