Planning Commission will hear about resilience plan

Aug. 19, 2024 - The Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday afternoon, with an agenda that includes a briefing on Hampton's Natural Infrastructure Resilience Plan.

The meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. It is open to the public.

The update on the natural infrastructure plan will look at the existing tree canopy and potential planning areas, among other factors. The plan, funded through a Flood Mitigation Assistance grand from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), identifies "opportunities to use natural assets to decrease flooding and generate actionable goals and strategies to create a greener city."

The commission will also hold a public hearing on a re-zoning application for four parcels of land on Semple Farm Road, totaling about eight acres, for use in developing townhomes.

The meeting will be broadcast on the city's TV channels, Cox 47 and Verizon 22, and streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv.
