NFD Response to Fatal Fire on Green Meadows Rd.

On November 5, at 7:27 p.m., Nantucket Dispatch received a call from the resident of 6 Green Meadows Rd. reporting a fire in the home. Firefighters arrived on scene at 7:30 p.m., immediately initiating a search for occupants while working to contain and extinguish the fire. During their search, firefighters located the resident, removed them from the structure, provided emergency medical care, and transported them to Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Unfortunately, the resident did not survive.

First responders also found a dog within the residence. The dog was stabilized on-site and transported to Offshore Animal Hospital for further care.

The fire was extinguished, and the cause is under investigation by the Department of Fire Services, the Massachusetts State Police, the Nantucket Fire Department, and the Nantucket Police Department. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and received treatment.
