Antibiotics saved their lives. Could they save yours?

In this powerful story we're sharing today, just ahead of AMR Awareness Week, our colleague Anne Bergman, Medical Affairs Lead at Viatris Sweden, shares how antibiotics were crucial in saving her husband's life after a kidney transplant.

"Fourteen years ago, I donated one kidney to my husband, and his life - and our life together - depended on effective antibiotics," Anne said.

But antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens that future. By 2050, AMR could cause 10 million deaths each year and lead to $1 trillion in global healthcare costs.

In a new film produced for us by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, we shine light on PLATINEA (PLATform for INnovation of Existing Antibiotics), a Swedish initiative driving cross-sector partnerships to tackle AMR.

PLATINEA is working to promote more effective antibiotic use in clinics, as well as to maintain supply security through helping health authorities build more sustainable market conditions for antibiotics.
