Celebrating 10 years of innovation: Siemens Healthineers joins King's at LIHE

This milestone marks a new chapter in their shared commitment to advancing healthcare innovation. By establishing a presence at LIHE, Siemens Healthineers aims to enhance their long-term research partnership and scale up co-creation activities on site and across the St Thomas' MedTech Hub.

A celebration event took place at LIHE, bringing together leaders from both sides to highlight key achievements, explore future opportunities, and showcase the Hub's cutting-edge facilities.

I am delighted to welcome Siemens Healthineers to LIHE and grateful for their continued partnership as we celebrate 10 years together. Their recognition of the value in co-locating alongside our researchers and clinicians is crucial to our shared mission of accelerating the pace of healthcare engineering into the clinic. Our collaboration has already led to impactful innovations, including contributions to Siemens Healthineers products through joint co-creation on-site. I am incredibly proud of our achievements so far, and excited for what lies ahead.

Professor Sebastien Ourselin FREng FMedSci, Director of the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering.

We go way back with King's and have created innovations together that have had significant impact on patients, like the co-development and integration of an innovative whole-heart MRI technique for non-invasive, efficient, and patient-friendly 3D imaging of the human heart into our products. By scaling up our presence and celebrating 10 years of collaboration, we see great potential for expanding strategic partnerships and fostering an ecosystem with global impact, right at the heart of London.

Andre Hartung, President of Diagnostic Imaging at Siemens Healthineers.

LIHE provides a dedicated physical space within St Thomas' Hospital campus for start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and multinational companies that together will ensure that the latest medical technology and discoveries are translated swiftly and effectively into patient care.

The presence of Siemens Healthineers will further contribute to a comprehensive variety of critical stakeholders under one roof at LIHE. This will fuel future innovation efforts, with the company bringing its global medical industry infrastructure and expertise across areas including advanced imaging, minimally invasive therapies, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and theranostics.
