The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman David R. Brown Who Died in the Line of Duty 41 years Ago

BPD Remembers: Patrolman David Brown suffered a fatal heart attack on August 14, 1983, in Dorchester shortly after a pursuit of a vehicle that was speeding on Columbia Road near Blue Hill Avenue.

While sitting inside the police vehicle he suffered a seizure while checking the vehicle registration and driver's license. His partner removed him from the vehicle and started CPR. He was taken to Boston City Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Patrolman Brown was a U.S Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He had served with the Boston Police Department for less than six years. He is survived by his wife, and five children, he was 35 years of age. Patrolman Brown was assigned to District 2.

Patrolman Brown was buried at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial Location in Washington D.C. on Panel 36 West Line 32. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
