Thanks to everyone who attended our 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration Festival on June 22nd at Rebecca Howard Park. The City of Olympia partnered with Shawna Hawk, M.A. of the Women of Color in Leadership Movement and Media Island International to host this celebration of Black culture, heritage, accomplishments, and liberation. This was also a landmark year as we commemorated the new Black Liberation Flag Crosswalk next to Rebecca Howard Park at 9th and Adams.
We want to express our gratitude to the speakers, performers, and vendors that were part of the program: DJ Lady Hawk, The Buffalo Soldiers, Mari G, Reggie Garrett, The Mustard Seed, Dirty Tomato, Jerk and Tings, and Olympia Mayor Dontae Payne.
Stay tuned for an upcoming highlights video of this year's event!
We hope you can join us next year! Stay informed about cultural celebrations in Olympia by signing up to receive City Diversity, Equity & Inclusion news at olympiawa.gov/news.
