Congressional Ukraine Caucus Statement on 2024 NATO SummitPress Release

Washington, DC - Today, the Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Ukraine Caucus, Representatives Marcy Kaptur (D-OH-09), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01), Mike Quigley (D-IL-05), and Joe Wilson (R-SC-02) released the following statement on the conclusion of the 2024 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Washington, DC:

"During the 2024 NATO Summit, we recognized 75 years of the Alliance's indispensable role in ensuring peace and security in Europe. More than any time since the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO is serving as the bulwark against Russian aggression towards the continent. By steadfastly supporting Ukraine since Russia's expanded and murderous invasion in 2022, NATO - led by the United States - has successfully prevented the conflict from spreading to our NATO allies and continues to ensure that war criminal Vladimir Putin fails in his violent ambitions," said the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus.

"We applaud NATO's resolute statement that 'Ukraine's future is in NATO' and commend Ukraine for its commitment to taking the responsible steps towards the 'irreversible' path to NATO membership. Furthermore, NATO rightfully addressed the reality that Putin is not waging this war alone. The Summit made it unequivocally clear that additional actors, including China, hostile to the Alliance's interests, must end their support through the provision of aid to Russia or face meaningful consequences," continued the Co-Chairs.

"As a Caucus and as a Congress, we are determined and committed to ensuring that the United States continues to meet the transatlantic security demands of this critical moment. Together, with our NATO partners, we must bolster Ukraine's fleet of F-16 aircraft, authorize deeper strikes within Russian and Russian-occupied territories, and improve intelligence sharing with Ukrainian forces as they valiantly defend their homeland. It is only through steadfast unity with our NATO allies that we can endeavor to guarantee a future where Ukraine and Europe are forevermore democratic, sovereign, and free."
