In Memoriam: Thanya Shemi

Thanya Shemi, a rising junior in the University of Delaware College of Engineering, passed away on Aug. 1, 2024. She was 20.

A native of Kendall Park, New Jersey, Ms. Shemi attended South Brunswick High School before enrolling as an honors chemical engineering major at UD. Ms. Shemi was the vice president of UD Chem-E-Car Team, a group of chemical engineers working to design a small-scale car powered by an aluminum fuel-cell propulsion system. She was also active in the Society of Women Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Indian Student Association.
