Action required: Spousal surcharge attestation for 2025

Faculty and staff who carry a spouse or state-registered domestic partner on their WSU medical insurance coverage may be subject to a spousal premium surcharge. Certain program participants are required to re-attest each year to determine if they are subject to this surcharge. If you need to re-attest you will need to do so during the Open Enrollment period, Oct. 28-Nov. 25.

You can complete your attestation through the Open Enrollment Change item in your Workday inbox. Use the 2025 Premium Surcharge Sheet (page 3 & 4) and/or Plan Comparison Calculator Tool (if not determined by the Help Sheet) to help make your attestation.

If you are required to re-attest, failure to attest during Open Enrollment will automatically result in a $50 monthly surcharge applied to your monthly premium. You will not be able to have this charge removed unless there is a special open enrollment event (change in your spouse's job, divorce, etc.).

In addition to this notice from WSU HRS, you may also receive notice from the Health Care Authority/Public Employees Benefit Board as well.

Questions can be directed to HRS at 509-335-4521or [email protected].
