TROPICAL STORM YAGI IN HONG KONG AND SOUTHERN CHINA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate Generals in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, is closely monitoring the development of Tropical Storm Yagi, which is expected to hit parts of Southern China, including Hainan and Guangdong. As of 3pm local time on 5 September 2024, Super Typhoon Yagi was located approximately 350km south-southeast of Hong Kong. It is forecast to move west-northwest across the northern part of the South China Sea.

Thus far, no Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by the typhoon.

Malaysians in the affected areas are urged to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities. Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my.
