Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division are seeking the public's help to identify the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run collision.
On November 27, 2024, at 6:03 a.m., a pedestrian was crossing westbound on Western Avenue at 7th Street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a light gray or blue 2004-2006 Acura MDX traveling north on Western Avenue. After the collision, the driver of the Acura MDX failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid to the pedestrian, as required by law. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Western Avenue near 4th Street.
The vehicle involved in the collision is believed to have damage on the front right passenger side.
Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
The public is also reminded that pedestrians must obey all traffic laws and cross the street when it is safe.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
