RCMP searching for owner of overturned boat

The Oromocto RCMP is asking for the public's help to locate a 54-year-old man, who is the owner of a boat that was found overturned in Queenstown, N.B.

On September 27, 2022, at approximately 2:20 p.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a wooden sailboat that was found overturned in the water in the Queenstown area. The boat was found unoccupied, with personal belongings on board.

Police are searching for Chris Pittner, a 54-year-old man from Kars, N.B., who is the owner of the boat. Chris was last seen loading his boat at the Wickham Wharf in Wickham, on September 27. Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his wellbeing. A clothing description and photo are unavailable at this time.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Chris Pittner, or who has spoken to him since September 27, is asked to contact the Oromocto RCMP at 506-857-4300.

The RCMP will share more information as it becomes available.

A number of RCMP Specialized Policing Services, including the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, the Coast Guard, Halifax Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre (JRCC) and Ground Search and Rescue, will be in the Queenstown area on September 28 as part of the investigation.
