‘Firefighter Fun Day’ Comes to the North Side!
The Madison Fire Department invites you to "meet us without the emergency!" Firefighter Fun Day is a free, public event that promises fun for the whole family. There are two opportunities to attend!
For the first time ever, and in response to popular demand, Firefighter Fun Day comes to Fire Station 10 (1517 Troy Drive). Madison's northside firefighters open their doors this Sunday, September 15, 1:00-4:00 PM.
Next Saturday, September 21, 1:00-4:00 PM, Firefighter Fun Day returns to Fire Station 9 (201 N. Midvale Boulevard).
Each event features fire station tours, fire truck tours, free food and refreshments, a live DJ, face painting, and more!
New this year: Madison Fire Department EMTs and paramedics will also host "Sidewalk CPR," an opportunity to learn and practice hands-only CPR. It's part of the MFD's quest to equip everybody in our community with this simple, lifesaving skill.
Street parking is available in the neighborhoods surrounding the fire stations. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Firefighter Fun Day is made possible in partnership with Fire Fighters Local 311.
About Fire Station 9
Fire Station 9 has been celebrated as a "neighborhood fire station" for more than 60 years. Located on the near west side (at Midvale Boulevard and Regent Street) and embraced by the Sunset Village neighborhood, the property features a pollinator garden donated by the Sunset Garden Club, designating the fire station an official Monarch Waystation recognized by MonarchWatch.org. The firehouse also serves the neighborhoods of Midvale Heights, University Hill Farms, Westmorland, Sunset Hills, and more, plus the Village of Shorewood Hills. Station 9 is staffed 24 hours a day by four firefighter/EMTs.
About Fire Station 10
Fire Station 10 is Madison's north side fire station, serving the neighborhoods of Brentwood Village, Mendota Hills, Kennedy Heights, Sherman Village, and more. Located just across the street from Warner Park, you'll find Maynard Mallard's likeness and other hallmarks of "northside pride" around the firehouse. The fire station also pays tribute to Firefighter/EMT Richard Garner, who served at the station until his untimely death in 2018. Garner's gear remains on display at Station 10, and a tree is planted on the front lawn in his honor. Station 10 is staffed 24 hours a day by four firefighter/EMTs and two firefighter/paramedics.
