San Diego men's soccer dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Vermont on Sunday evening at Torero Stadium, ending the program's immensely successful 2024 season in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament.

The two teams forced overtime after a 0-0 finish in regulation time, before Vermont were awarded a penalty kick 30 seconds into overtime that they converted to win the game.

Said USD coach Brian Quinn: "We had a fantastic crowd. Everything was in our favor. … It's emotionally difficult because I felt we played well enough to win, and there were games this season where we hadn't played as well and won games. But that's the game. It's a tough one to swallow, because penalties in our sport decide games."
