Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh to Preside at Promotion Ceremony for 49 EMS Lieutenants

Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh will preside over the promotion of the 49 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Lieutenants on Friday, August 2nd at 10 a.m. at St. John's University - 8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens. The ceremony can be viewed live on the Department's website atwww.nyc.gov/FDNY or HERE.

"Promotion ceremonies remind us of the strong leaders we have in this Department," said Commissioner Kavanagh. "FDNY EMS responds to more than 1.6 million medical calls each year. These new Lieutenants bring years of knowledge and expertise to their new roles and will play a critical part in ensuring the safety of our patients and our members."

The newly promoted Lieutenants will take on supervisory roles, providing first-line supervision for the EMTs and Paramedics in the field. They will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
