Michigan Selected for Prestigious MIT REAP Global Program

Supercharging Michigan's innovation-driven entrepreneurship ecosystem

In November 2024, MIT REAP Team Michigan completed their first three-day workshop in Cambridge, MA, beginning a two-year global exchange program to spur collaborative statewide conversations and action that accelerates innovation-driven entrepreneurship in Michigan.

The MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (MIT REAP) has announced that Michigan is participating in its Global program, Cohort 11, which launched in November 2024. Over the next two years, the team will engage in an exchange of global best practices leveraging the frameworks developed by MIT to spur collaborative conversations and action across the state that accelerates innovation-driven entrepreneurship (IDE) in Michigan.

MIT REAP is a global initiative that engages with communities around the world to supercharge innovation-driven entrepreneurship ecosystems and transform economies. The Global program employs an evidence-based "team" approach, translating MIT research and insights into a practical, actionable, and strategic framework that convenes and educates key stakeholders, and empowers regional leaders to drive meaningful, long-term economic and social change.

"MIT REAP works with global regions to identify their unique history and goals and create compatible pathways for both bringing innovations to the market and building a culture of entrepreneurship," said Professor Fiona Murray, MIT REAP Faculty Co-Director, William Porter Professor of Entrepreneurship, and MIT Sloan Associate Dean for Innovation. "By convening committed community leaders from the five key stakeholder groups and working closely with the MIT REAP faculty, each region is able to target its capacities and opportunities for growth, design an actionable strategy that is broadly inclusive of stakeholders in the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem, and launch new programs or policies that will produce measurable economic results."
