Brighter future for young people: Nine institutions join the UNESCO O3Plus project interventions on health & wellbeing

In a remarkable display of collaboration of the UNESCO O3 Plus Project Intervention, 9 new Higher and Tertiary Education Institutions (HTEIs) have officially joined in following a series of insightful inception meetings with their respective managements. This marks a significant milestone in the journey towards transforming lives and improving health outcomes for young people in HTEIs in Tanzania.

The New Institutions on Board include:

• Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP - Dodoma)

• Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA)

• Institute of Social Work (ISW)

• Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD Arusha)

• Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) - Dar es Salaam

• Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) - Mtwara

• Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) - Singida

• Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) - Mwanza

• Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) - Kigoma

The inception meetings were held with the management teams of these institutions, where in attendance, were also representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MoEST), the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups (MoCDGWSGs), and the National Commission for UNESCO. Through in-depth discussions and engagement during the meetings, the management teams gained a deeper understanding of the project, as a result, they committed to support the project implementation process and sustain project results. This commitment and collaboration between UNESCO and the newly enrolled institutions are expected to increase access to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), improve Gender-based violence reporting mechanisms, and increase access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services, impacting over 40,000 students.
