State Police arrest a Savannah man for Rape 1st

On October 3, 2024, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Williamson reports the arrest of a Wayne County man following a reported sexual assault that occurred in the town of Savannah.

Troopers arrested Matthew J. Foro, age 47, of Savannah, NY, after a female victim reported that Foro subjected her to forced sexual intercourse at his residence. The victim reported Foro also threatened her with a firearm during the incident and later made threats to kill her if she told anyone. The victim was able to make contact with police, who responded to the residence and took Foro into custody. The victim was then transported to the hospital by ambulance. Troopers executed a search warrant at Foro's residence and obtained a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order authorizing the seizure of all firearms owned by Foro.

Foro was charged with Rape 1st (B Felony), Criminal Use of A Firearm 1st (B Felony), Criminal Possession of A Weapon 4th (A Misdemeanor), and Menacing 2nd (A Misdemeanor). Foro was processed and transported to Wayne County Jail for CAP arraignment, and an Order of Protection was also requested on behalf of the victim.
