Funds have been allocated by the Office of the Provost to support the work of non-tenure-track faculty members on campus. Nominations are being accepted during the fall semester for professional development awards, research awards and the Participating Faculty Research Achievement Award. Information on the below awards is available on the participating faculty website.

Participating (Non-tenure Track) faculty - Application for 2024-25 Professional Development Awards

The Office of the Provost has allocated $10,000 to be distributed to participating faculty for professional development activities during the 2024-25 academic year (funds must be spent prior to May 15, 2025). All participating faculty (faculty not tenured or on the tenure track), full and part-time, are eligible to receive an award up to $500. For faculty teaching only one semester during the 2024-25 academic year, the award must be spent during the semester of employment (for fall term only faculty, funds must be spent prior to Dec. 1).

Awards will be made for relevant professional development activities, including, but not limited to conferences, workshops, trainings, etc. Please note, conference participation may only be funded, in whole or in part, if a connection to a specific professional development opportunity is clear.

View the NTT Professional Development Award application materials. A subcommittee of the Participating Faculty Committee will review applications to determine award recipients. Criteria include (1) alignment with professional development, or how the award (funds) will be used; (2) the potential impact of the award; and (3) whether or not, and if so how much, the applicant has already received in professional development funds from other sources (e.g., department / college) this academic year.

Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. Send as an electronic attachment to [email protected].

Participating (Non-tenure Track) faculty - Application for 2024-25 Research Awards

The Office of the Provost has allocated $10,000 to be distributed to full-time participating faculty for research activities during the 2024-25 academic year (funds must be spent prior to June 13, 2025). All full-time participating faculty (faculty not tenured or on the tenure track), are eligible to receive an award up to $2,500. View the Research Award application materials.

Applications along with a current CV are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Send as an electronic attachment to [email protected].

Participating Faculty Research Achievement Award

The Participating Faculty Research Achievement Award is intended to recognize research/scholarship accomplishments of non-tenure track faculty at Marquette. An award of $3,000 will be provided to a full-time participating faculty member based on their record of scholarly activity, preferably at Marquette, within the past five years.

Applications will include a description of research/scholarship activities, curriculum vita, and one support letter. Completed applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and should be emailed to [email protected].

Final selection will be made by members of the University Committee on Research who will invite a participating faculty member to serve as an ad hoc member of the review committee. The nomination will be reviewed by faculty colleagues from across campus who may not be familiar with research/scholarship in any one area. A nontechnical description of the project is critical to communicating your ideas.

The support letter should come from the candidate's dean, associate dean, or department chair (leaders may delegate the support letter to another colleague with deeper knowledge of the applicant's field of study, if appropriate). Check with your department or college office in advance to confirm procedures for procuring letter of support. The letter of support should provide context about the research accomplishments relative to others in their field (nationally and/or internationally).
