Chorale to Perform Fall Concert

Lee University Chorale will present its fall concert on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, under the direction of Dr. William Green, dean of the School of Music.

"As we look forward to Chorale's 25th anniversary, I have selected some of our favorites from past years for this concert," said Green. "The music is inspiring and filled with expression and deep meaning."

The performance will be centered around three types of music that are common in Chorale concerts: Latin sacred music, German part songs, and American sacred music. The Latin pieces are drawn from the Renaissance and Romantic periods. The German part songs cross over from the Classical and Romantic periods, including music from Haydn, Schubert, and Brahms. The American pieces will include an arrangement of "Nearer, My God, to Thee" with guest soloist Dr. Andrea Dismukes. The concert will end with a spiritual by American composer Brandon Boyd, titled "Hold On."

Graduate student Mark Perry will conduct Chorale alongside Green, and faculty pianist Amy Wu will be the accompanist for the performance.

In addition to serving as School of Music dean, Green teaches graduate and undergraduate conducting. He is also active nationally and internationally as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician.

The Lee University Chorale is an ensemble of highly motivated vocalists selected by audition. An emphasis is placed on the diversity and breadth of advanced, artistic choral literature. Chorale has been featured in performances with the Chattanooga Symphony, at Carnegie Hall, and in Italy and Austria as an invited guest for the 2022 Advent Festival in Vienna.

The performance is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. The concert will also be available for livestream viewing at https://leeu.live/.
