WASHINGTON - Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) announced the winners for the Fourth District's 2024 Congressional App Challenge.
The Congressional App Challenge encourages high school students across the country to showcase their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills and knowledge by creating their own apps. The winning app, "AquaEye," was created by Humam Al-shami from Arkansas Connections Academy & Mohammed Alroobi from Magnolia High School. This life-saving app is designed to assist lifeguards as they monitor large bodies of water to prevent and detect drownings.
"Seeing the talent showcased by all participants of this year's Congressional App Challenge was immensely encouraging," said Congressman Westerman. "I am always excited to see the ingenuity and creativity displayed in our youth every year through this challenge - and this year was no different. The future is bright not only for these remarkable students, but for our state and nation as a whole. Congratulations to all participants of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge!"
The "AquaEye" app will be on digital display in the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., along with winning apps from other congressional districts.
This year, the Fourth District received 24 submissions from 71 students, and the winners were announced yesterday evening during a reception held in Hot Springs.
