Houston Christian University to offer Master of Science in Data Science in Fall 2025

Houston, Texas, Aug. 29, 2024 - Houston Christian University (HCU) has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for a new online master's degree program in Data Science. This innovative degree program, slated to launch in Fall 2025, is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's data-driven world.

The new degree program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of data analysis, machine learning, statistical modeling and more. Through a combination of rigorous coursework and hands-on experience, students will develop the expertise to extract valuable insights from complex datasets and drive informed decision-making in various industries.

"We are thrilled to introduce our new master's degree program in Data Science," said President Robert Sloan. "In HCU an era where data is increasingly recognized as a critical asset, this program will empower students to excel in a wide range of fields, from business and finance to healthcare and technology."

The curriculum of the program covers a wide range of topics, including data visualization and storytelling, predictive analytics and modeling, big data technologies and platforms, ethical and legal considerations in data science and advanced programming languages such as Python and R.

Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources, including dedicated laboratories equipped with cutting-edge software and tools. They can also engage with industry professionals through internships, guest lectures and networking events.
